FAQ
What is indoor navigation?
The functionality that allows a user to navigate inside buildings from one pointÂto another thanks to its real-time positioning on a map on the smartphone.Â
How do you build an indoor navigation system?
You will need to deploy some beacons in the building where you want to provide wayfinding, configure the building map on the dashboard and integrate the guidance system into your app using our inMapz Situm WYF module or SDK, or use our ready-to-publish app base.Â
What are the components of the platfom?
The components of our Situm IPS platform are our RTLS – Real Time Location Service; the InMapz Situm Mapping Tool app for building calibration; the multifunction dashboard to manage cartography, paths and get geo-analytics; different solutions for integration of guidance functionality in apps, and Rest APIs for integration with other systems.Â
Why indoor navigation using Bluetooth beacons?
The beacons are small, easy-to-install devices without any connectivity that emit a BLE signal that InMapz Situm’s algorithm uses, along with other signals, to locate the user’s smartphone inside the building. Their use is necessary due to the restrictions of the iOS operating system in that it does not automatically detect Wi-Fi, another of the main signals incorporated into Situm’s algorithm.Â
How to create an indoor navigation map?
Upload an image of your building’s floor plan to InMapz Situm Dashboard, create the points of interest where you want to guide visitors, and point out on a map with an intuitive tool the paths where users will circulate.Â
